Unpublished Ty Segall Manipulator Tour Photos (2014)

Ok, so before we look at all of these photos I unearthed on a forgotten hard drive, you must know how sentimental they are to me! I would consider this the first *rock* show I ever photographed. It was one of the first shows I saw after I went to college. Plus! It was my first time seeing Ty, who now, I have literally seen countless times and have even crossed state lines for.

Here is an Instagram post I made back in May before seeing him at One Eyed Jacks in support of his latest self-titled album. I used one of the few photos I had ever shared from this night.

Can you tell I was in my feels? I was emotional all day and during and after this show.
So good. So important to me. So FUN.

I have a collection of unorganized hard drives and USBs. The worst is my hard drives that are formatted for Mac computers... which I don't have. This is how I found this forgotten folder of Ty photos- organizing files on a Mac in my school's lab.

These pictures are wonderfully shitty and terribly shot on an old point and shoot. They are not formal, dirty and very... very sweaty.

I love it. Check it out...

I seriously just remember hopping around and being thrown around One Eyed Jacks in a sea of people the whole night. That might be every Ty show?. My shirt was 3x the size when I left.

^This one might be my favorite^.

Also love that I have good friends pictured in photos from this night who I didn't know at all at the time.

Loudness War Record Release Party with Hydra Plane

So proud of my friends and boyfriend in Loudness War. LW released their 3rd album The Miser this past month with Transylvania Music Company. It was their first time recording with someone besides themselves and first time getting something pressed on vinyl! To celebrate the release, we threw a record release party at The Parlor and decorated the place to match the cover. Other BR darlings, Hydra Plane, opened the show. Night of psych, fusion and heavy fuzz. It was fun. When you get the chance, check out these two bands around town. See photos from the Record Release Party below....

The Parlor was so great for being down to let us go in there and decorate it. We had 2 cars almost completely filled with any greenery we could get our hands on. Turned out sick.

Honestly, it's been a blast photographing them for this long and to see them release yet another collection of music. It's admirable how much they just keep going. You'd be crazy to think they're not sitting on so much more.

One of the best parts are the crowds full of friends and strangers who keep coming back and learn the words. Don't stop showing up.

Keep supporting local music. Buy yourself a drink. Have a good day.

LIVE: Casual Burn @ Siberia 2.7.16

I caught Casual Burn opening for The Coathangers at Siberia last week. You can read my review of that show for KLSU riiiiiight here.

This was my second time seeing Casual Burn! I was pretty stoked too see them live again. The first time I saw this band... I think my jaw was on the floor the whole time while simultaneously dancing sporadically and just being really excited that they were that bad ass and that I was witnessing it. I have since featured them on More Than Noise a few times during our local spotlight we do at midnight.

Pretty sick tattoos. Had to get this shot.

Ok, but if you can't already tell, she has wild energy! It is perfect for the music Casual Burn makes and it is so precious for the live show experience. This is by far my favorite show I've photographed yet this year.

You can follow Casual Burn online and find their debut Talk Bad on their bandcamp page.

LIVE: NOTS @ Gasa Gasa 2.01.16

NOTS at Gasa Gasa in New Orleans.
Loud noise... multiple broken guitars... swirling synth... and mean, mean vocals.

These are one of my favorite groups to come out of the Memphis punk scene today!
It was my 3rd+ time seeing them live, but first time at a show here in town. If you ever see them on a bill, don't pass it up.

I've been dying to do something new with a collage of images from a live set and I do not hate what I did below. Natanot's signature red guitar looks fire.

Have you ever done something like this though? Give me pro-tips!
What do you do when you're tired of the same old way of shooting?

NOTS are currently on tour in support of their second full-length release Cosmetic.

Taxi reviewed the show here.
Catch us on More Than Noise every Wednesday night playing loud punk stuff including NOTS.
11 pm-1 am on 91.1 KLSU FM and streaming online.

LIVE: Ron Gallo @ Gasa Gasa

Here's a few shots from Ron Gallo's set at Gasa Gasa this past Friday the 13th! I just started working at Gasa this semester, so I will be skipping around town (NOLA) a lot from now on. Catch me there many nights a week, say hello to me, invite me to your favorite band's show, and let's swap records and have a photo shoot all at the same time. I'm trying to fill my plate! xo

Roadtrip to L.A.

It has been incredibly fun traveling around with my boo for the sake of some good ole rock 'n' roll shows and some of our favorite bands. This time it was a big one... a long one. California is pretty far, y'all. Ryan and I planned a trip to L.A. this summer for In The Red Record's 25th Anniversary showcase at the Echo/Echoplex and ok kind of for his 21st birthday, too. Our friend Paige tagged along with us which could not have been more fun. This was my first time being out west and a lot of other things. Trip full'a memories and my 35mm.

Gonna save you from the pictures of us eating In N Out in Texas and how bland Texas can be... though it was really cool to be able to peep my eyes right over into Mexico while we were in El Paso.

We had nothing planned for us when we got to L.A. so we extended our route to go through Joshua Tree National Park . We got there during sunset and stayed 'til it got dark. I sang a little bit of U2, but it wasn't very popular.

Joshua Tree National Park, California

Arriving to Joshua Tree is when I really started to feel like I was actually in the West... or at least out of the car to enjoy it! This air was dry and super warm! It felt ah-mazing. Plus, the sunset could not have been a prettier time to be there... or get pictures. We walked around, climbed some rocks and stuff, looked at things, walked around some more...

Waitin' at the bottom of the hill

OK BUT... As the sun was going down... so was the van. This baby was not going to make it out of the desert alive. After having trouble, we decided to let the van cool down and crawled on the roof to look at stars. It eventually made it to the interstate and then was done, so at least we had cell service again.

When towing didn't show up after 2 hours, we rolled over to the next town of Banning, CA where we had to stay overnight. To keep this story short... we had to leave the van to die in Cali and had to rent a UHAUL to get us around the city. Look at the funeral below.

Also, I think we all knew the van was going to die but we buried the idea in the back of our mind's before the trip and took it on the road anyway. Whatever.

Our motel in L.A. was in Chinatown and it had the best lighting in the world. I also got my first tattoo of this illustration that I found on the internet years ago and fell in love with. Felt like tiny knives during the process... but worth it.

Leaving L.A. to see the Grand Canyon. Stopped in Sky Valley because Ryan and Kyuss.

Making our way to Flagstaff, AZ.

Yeah, I burned one of my last rolls of film while taking it out... sigh.  Driving through Arizona was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. I drove up and through the mountains and the cutest towns.

Barney's House, Bed Rock City in Arizona

Overheard this giant man say "It ain't that grand." Ok, sir! This thing is massive. I found out that I am still not afraid of heights, but I am definitely afraid of canyons. No matter how stunning this was... I was not even going to crawl to the edge.

PS: If you're wondering where all my photos of the concerts I went to see are... I was way too busy enjoying myself and singing all the words. GOGGS first show? Yes, please. Meatbodies? SO. FUN. In The Red kills it as a label. I'm already ready to do L.A. again.
